Household chores….

…it never ends, does it?

This must be one of the ten top least rewarding jobs ever. It’s continuous. It’s boring. It never changes. It gets taken for granted by those not doing it….etc etc. Probably the only good thing about household chores is that it may be a soft form of exercise, but apparently only if done with effort. Now who wants to do a chore with effort?

In our house it’s clockwork from the day the washing and ironing is done, exactly a week later it is required to be done again. Washing and ironing exactly the same clothes as the previous week and will continue to be the same clothes the next week. Winter spices things up a bit now, there’s more long sleeved and woolie items, which use more water and effort to iron. Yay for change in the mundane routine I call my wifely weekly workout!

I am grateful though to have a husband (hey babe ;p) that is willing to at least do the vacuuming of our very big house once a week. That still leaves me with the delightful job of cleaning 3 toilets (euuwwww worst job ever), mopping floors and dusting. Dusting is the worst as no matter how well I dust as soon as I turn my back the dust just settles right back to its cozy resting place.

Although it does get a bit much to handle at times; I find weeks like this the washing and ironing seems effortless and gets done quickly with some time to reflect.

Invictus…

Honestly didn’t want to see this movie. I had assumed it would be a typical South African political skop skiet en donner type movie and I don’t like such things. Ignorance is bliss. But as usual we were chilling in the lounge and desperation set in to watch something and we chose this as Chris wanted to see it.

I was pleasantly surprised at the storyline. It makes you sit up and say ah did that really happen? It truly shows that Mandela was a great president of this country. I however wish that new government would have a movie night too and watch this so that they may learn something as they have obviously lost the plot.

Some parts of the movie look as if it was filmed by a South African crew and other scenes look professional and clear. It is still unclear whether that was done on purpose. There was no violence, thank goodness. There were jokes, believe it or not. Really funny moments where you almost spit coke through your nose type moments as they surprise you.

I would recommend all South Africans to see this movie and honestly urge government to review history to see what the original plan was as I think they literally just fucked up Mandela’s plan for the rainbow nation.
